District 57 Tapestry Singers invite you to attend, “Circle of Friends”, a Choral Concert, on Saturday June 1st, along with their many special guests.Guest artists include Barb Parker, Curtis Abriel, José Delgado-Guevara, Flora Camuzet, and Rob Hanigan.Tapestry
Singers include 24 JUNIOR Singers in Grades 4-7 and 26 SENIOR Singers in Grades 7-12. They are very active within the Prince George community, singing at local sporting events, care homes, and special events. They continue to collaborate with local musicians and organizations and over the past 12 years, have enjoyed 4 collaborations with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra. Both choral groups were recently recommended to the Provincial Level of Competition at the PG Music Festival. The SENIOR Singers travel beyond Prince George each spring and have enjoyed attending festivals in Edmonton, Vancouver, Seattle, Whistler, Banff, and Sun Peaks, where they have consistently received a GOLD Standing. They recently returned from their trip to Vancouver and Salt Spring Island. At the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festivals, they received a second recommendation to the Provincial Level of Competition.
“Circle of Friends” is a concert that celebrates the joyful young voices of both the JUNIOR and SENIOR Tapestry Singers. Selections will range from contemporary to traditional and offer something for everyone. There will be familiar melodies, including: “The Garton Mother’s Lullaby”, “Chim Chim Cher-ee”, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”, “By the Rivers of Babylon”, “A Thousand Years”, and “Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive”. There will also be lesser known melodies, including: “Windy Nights”, “Ban, Ban, Caliban”, “Circle of Friends”, and “Banjo Pickin’ Girl”. Several selections feature choreography by Tapestry’s SENIOR Singer, Ellie Prendergast, and local dancer and educator, Kristen Helfrich.
“Circle of Friends” is a choral concert that celebrates singers and singing. Two performances at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Get your tickets early because Tapestry’s concerts always sell out!
