Description

Instructor: Karen Heathman
For PGPG Members only – max 6 students
8 hours over four days

Cost – $150 per student

  • March 2 – 4  – glaze instruction by appointment with instructor (per COVID restrictions) (2 hours)
  • March 6 – kiln loading (2 hours)
  • March 7 – kiln firing (2-10 hours, depending on student availability, instructors will be at the guild for 10-11 hours)
  • March 9 – Kiln unloading – (2 hours)

We will review the differences between a cone 6 (oxidation) firing and a cone 10 (reduction firing, how the glazes work differently, and what you need to look out for when making and loading pieces in the kiln. Students will help with the loading of the kiln, firing of the kiln, and unloading of the kiln to view the results in situ.

Students may purchase one bag of Cone 10 clay for their wares for $22 per bag. Students will need to bring at least 6 bisqued pieces to the first session for glazing.
