3 Days of Fun!

The PGYCMF is a special, one of a kind three-day music festival bringing together students, professional musicians, and local youth for an extravaganza of education and performance opportunities on the occasion of Canada’s sesquicentennial anniversary. Participation in all events will be open to young musicians age 19 and under, at no charge.

This initiative is made possible by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between The Prince George Community Foundation, the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.

A cooperative effort between the Community Arts Council, the Prince George Conservatory of Music, and the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, this unique event will feature instrumental and composition workshops to be led by top professionals in the area.

The Composition workshop will be open to young musicians of all levels. Students should write at their level and for their instrument, and be prepared to perform their composition at the workshop on the morning of Oct. 20. No other workshops will be run at this time, so that students will be able to take part in both the Composition workshop, and the workshop specifically for their instrument.

Additionally, selected workshop participants will have the opportunity to perform alongside the faculty of the PGCM and core members of the PGSO at a chamber concert.

On Sunday, th PGSO will be performing a special afternoon concert featuring selections from the workshops. Additionally, selected intermediate and advanced workshop participants in the Strings and Winds/Brass categories will have the opportunity to join the PGSO for part of the performance!
