Once an ancient folk dance from the northern Punjab region of India celebrating springtime harvest, Bhangra music and dance has become popular at many special events like weddings. The all male Punjabi Bhangra dancers wear traditional costumes that are a kaleidoscope of colors. Dancers also wear a pag or turban and a turla or fan-like adornment on top of the turban. They use props like: katoo (long stick with a clapper), saap (a wooden crisscross for creating rhythm and noise) and a chimta (long metal instrument with cymbals).
