North Central Arts Summit

Shifting Ground: New Realities, New Ideas, New Opportunities

   2010 Legacies Now, Arts is working in conjunction with BC’s arts organizations to present a series of Regional Arts Summits around the province in 2009-2010. The objective of the Regional Arts Summits is to enhance the skills, knowledge and expertise of those working and volunteering in the sector, as well as to strengthen regional networks to encourage increased communication, collaboration and cooperation in the region.
   The North Central Arts Summit in Prince George will offer a platform for dialogue, professional development and networking opportunities to a diverse group of artists, arts administrators, arts and heritage organization representatives, volunteer board members, concert presenters, gallery, museum and cultural facility managers, students, government and tourism representatives, and others working in the creative sector.

How to register
   Registration is free and is on a first-come, first-served basis for artists from all disciplines and genres and representative from arts, cultural and heritage organizations including volunteer board members from the North Central region of BC.  Due to our limited capacity, we reserve the right to limit or refuse registrations from non-qualifying individuals and/or organizations. 

   Registration at the two day event includes a reception on Friday evening and lunch on both days. Registrations to attend one or two sessions only may not be considered a priority. We highly encourage attendance for a minimum of one full day.

HeART for the HEALth of it! Project

This project is now taking registrations. Eligible persons are those that are recovering from a recent (2 years), cardio trauma, cancer survivors and active cancer patients. This group will meet once per month at the Studio 2880 Complex. You do not have to be an artist nor are these sessions art lessons. The focus is expression! Come and have some fun. There is no cost for the participants. There are 25 spots available. There are 12 sessions that start in September and one per month for the year. The sessions are led by a yoga instructor and artist. Each session is approximately 2 hours with the last part being a coffee break. This project received seed funding from Northern Health through their Imagine seed grants. Feature Gallery

The Community Arts Council's Feature Gallery will be exhibiting Maureen Hamilton and Mike Bertucci for October and November.  The Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, October 7th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.  Studio 2880 will be offering 10% off all Gift Shoppe merchandise during the reception.  Come out and support your local artists.  Currently Annerose Georgeson and Leanna Carlson are being exhibited.
